Intubación con fibra óptica en pacientes pediátricos a menudo se requiere sobre todo en la vía aérea difícil de sindrómico es decir, pacientes con síndrome de Pierre Robin. Los bebés pequeños se desaturar muy rápidamente si se interrumpe la ventilación sobre todo a alta tasa metabólica. Se describen las directrices para realizar una intubación con fibra óptica a salvo mientras se mantiene la respiración espontánea durante todo el procedimiento.
