Moléculas de RNA desempenham um papel essencial na biologia. Além de transmitir a informação genética, RNA pode dobrar em exclusivo estruturas terciárias cumprindo um papel biológico específico como ligante regulador, ou catalisador. Informações sobre a formação de contato superior é essencial para compreender a função das moléculas de RNA. Radicais hidroxila (OH •) são sondas única da estrutura dos ácidos nucléicos, devido à sua alta reatividade e tamanho pequeno. 1 Quando utilizado como uma sonda pegada, os radicais hidroxila mapa da superfície acessível solvente do backbone fosfodiéster do DNA e RNA 1 2 com tão fina como a resolução de nucleotídeo único.
