Hyperthermie is een algemene term die wordt gebruikt om de stijging van de kerntemperatuur van het lichaam boven de normale definiëren. Het wordt vaak gebruikt om de verhoogde lichaamstemperatuur die wordt waargenomen tijdens koorts beschreven. Gebruik van hyperthermie als adjuvans is ontstaan ​​als een veelbelovende procedure voor tumor regressie op het gebied van kankerbiologie. Hiertoe is de belangrijkste eis aan betrouwbare en gelijkmatige verwarming protocollen. We hebben een protocol ontwikkeld voor hyperthermie (gehele lichaam) in muizen. In dit protocol worden de dieren blootgesteld aan cycli van hyperthermie gedurende 90 min gevolgd door een rusttijd van 15 minuten. Tijdens deze periode muizen gemakkelijk toegang hebben tot voedsel en water. Hoge lichaamstemperatuur spikes in de muizen tijdens de eerste paar cycli hyperthermie blootstelling worden voorkomen door het immobiliseren van het dier. Bovendien wordt normale zoutoplossing toegediend in eerste cycli om de effecten van dehydratie minimaliseren. Dit protocol kan simuleren koorts achtige omstandigheden bij muizen tot 12 tot 24 uur. We hebbengebruikt 8-12 weken oude Balb / Cj vrouwelijke muizen om het protocol aan te tonen.
