Hypertermi är en allmän term som används för att definiera den ökning av kroppstemperaturen över det normala. Det används ofta för att beskriva den ökade kroppstemperaturen som observeras under feber. Användningen av hypertermi som ett adjuvans har framträtt som ett lovande förfarande för tumörregression inom cancerbiologi. För detta ändamål, är det viktigaste kravet för att få tillförlitliga och likformig uppvärmning protokoll. Vi har utvecklat ett protokoll för hypertermi (hela kroppen) hos möss. I detta protokoll djuren utsätts för cykler av hypertermi under 90 min följt av en viloperiod på 15 minuter. Under denna period möss har enkel tillgång till mat och vatten. Hög kroppstemperatur spikar i mössen under första cyklerna hypertermi exponering förhindras genom immobilisering av djuret. Dessutom är normal saltlösning administrerades i första cyklerna för att minimera effekterna av uttorkning. Detta protokoll kan simulera feber liknande förhållanden hos möss upp till 12-24 timmar. Vi haranvänds 8-12 veckor gamla BALB / CJ honmöss att visa protokollet.
