Endovaskulära infektioner, inklusive endokardit, är livshotande infektioner syndrom 1-3. Staphylococcus aureus är den vanligaste världen orsaken till dessa syndrom med oacceptabelt hög sjuklighet och dödlighet även med lämplig antimikrobiell agent behandlingar 4-6. Ökningen i infektioner orsakade av meticillinresistenta S. aureus (MRSA), de höga vankomycin kliniska misslyckade behandlingar och växande problem med linezolid och daptomycin motståndet har alla mer komplicerade behandling av patienter med sådana infektioner, och ledde till höga sjukvårdskostnader 7, 8. Dessutom bör det framhållas att de senaste studierna med antibiotikabehandling resultat har sin bas i kliniska miljöer, och därmed kan mycket väl påverkas av värd faktorer varierar från patient till patient. Därför är en relevant djurmodell för endovaskulära infektion som värd faktorer är likartade från djur till djur meravgörande för att undersöka Microbial Pathogenesis, såväl som effekten av nya antimikrobiella medel. Endokardit i råtta är en väletablerad experimentell djurmodell som nära approximerar mänskliga infödda ventil endokardit. Denna modell har använts för att undersöka betydelsen av särskilda stafylokock virulensfaktorer och effekt av antibiotika behandlingsregimer för stafylokock endokardit. I denna rapport beskriver vi den experimentella endokardit modellen på grund av MRSA som kan användas för att undersöka bakteriell patogenes och svar på antibiotikabehandling.
