De administrative moduser presentert ovenfor har i tidligere studier vist seg overlegen i forhold til kommersielle slow-release pellets og injeksjoner i form av produksjon av fysiologiske serumkonsentrasjoner av 17β-østradiol. ovariectomy and 17&beta;-estradiol replacement in rats and mice: a visual demonstration

Østrogen er en familie av kvinnelige kjønnshormoner med en eksepsjonelt bredt spekter av effekter. Når rotter og mus brukes i østrogen forskning de er ofte ovariectomized for å ablate raskt sykling hormon produksjon, erstatter 17β-østradiol eksogent. Det er imidlertid mangel på enighet om hvordan hormonet bør gis for å oppnå fysiologiske serumkonsentrasjoner. Dette er avgjørende fordi den 17β-østradiol nivå / administrasjon metode dypt påvirker de eksperimentelle resultatene 1-3. Vi har i en rekke studier som karakteriseres de ulike 17β-østradiol administrasjon, finne at subkutane silastic kapsler og per-oral nut-krem Nutella er overlegen kommersielt tilgjengelige slow-release pellets (produsert av selskapet nyskapende forskning of America) og daglige injeksjoner i form av produksjon av fysiologiske serumkonsentrasjoner av 17β-østradiol 4-6. Blant advantages av nut-krem metode, som tidligere har vært brukt til buprenorfin administrasjon 7, er at når det brukes for østrogen administrasjon den ligner peroral østrogenbehandling og er ikke-invasiv. De subkutane silastic Kapslene er praktisk og produsere de mest stabile serumkonsentrasjoner.
