Både den kliniska diagnosen och grundläggande undersökningar av större ögonsjukdomar stor nytta olika icke-invasiva tekniker oftalmiska avbildning. Befintliga retinala avbildningsmetoder, såsom ögonbottenfotografering 1, konfokal skanning laser oftalmoskopi (cSLO) 2, och optisk koherens tomografi (oktober) 3, har betydande insatser i övervakningen sjukdomar starter och progressioner, och utveckla nya terapeutiska strategier. Men förlitar de främst på baksidan reflekterade fotoner från näthinnan. Som en följd av de optiska absorptionsegenskaper i näthinnan, som vanligtvis är starkt förknippade med retinal patofysiologi status, är oåtkomliga från de traditionella imaging teknik. Fotoakustisk oftalmoskopi (PAOM) är en växande näthinnan avbildning modalitet som tillåter detektion av den optiska absorptionen kontraster i ögat med en hög känslighet 4-7. I PAOM nanosecond laserpulser avges genom pupillen och skannas över den bakre ögat för att framkalla fotoakustiska (PA) signaler, som detekteras av en ofokuserad ultraljudomvandlare fäst ögonlocket. På grund av den starka optiska absorptionen av hemoglobin och melanin, är PAOM förmåga noninvasivt avbildning av retinala och koroidala vasculatures, och näthinnans pigmentepitel (RPE) melanin vid höga kontraster 6,7. Ännu viktigare, baserat på välutvecklade spektroskopiska fotoakustisk avbildning 5,8 har PAOM potential att kartlägga mättnad hemoglobin syre i retinala kärl, vilket kan vara avgörande för att studera fysiologi och patologi av flera bländande sjukdomar 9 såsom diabetesretinopati och neovaskulärt åldersrelaterad makuladegeneration. Dessutom är den enda existerande optiska absorptionen baserad oftalmisk avbildning modalitet, kan PAOM integreras med väl etablerad klinisk oftalmisk avbildning techniques att uppnå mer omfattande anatomiska och funktionella utvärderingar av ögat baserat på flera optiska kontraster 6,10. I detta arbete integrerar vi PAOM och spektrala-domän oktober (SD-oktober) för att samtidigt in vivo retinal avbildning av råtta, där både optisk absorption och egenskaper spridning av näthinnan avslöjas.
