Gli acidi nucleici sono sorprendentemente versatile. Oltre al loro ruolo naturale come supporto di memorizzazione per informazioni biologiche 1, possono essere utilizzati in parallelo computazione 2,3, riconoscono e si legano bersagli molecolari o cellulari 4,5, 6,7 catalizzano reazioni chimiche, e generano risposte calcolate in biologico Sistema di 8,9. Soprattutto, gli acidi nucleici possono essere programmate per auto-assemblano in strutture 2D e 3D 10-12, consentendo l&#39;integrazione di tutte queste caratteristiche notevoli in un unico robot che collegano il rilevamento di segnali biologici per una risposta predeterminata per esercitare un effetto desiderato.
