Многие аспекты местной сотовой микроокружения (например, жесткость, размер пор, природа белков, или плотность клеток-лиганд) обеспечивают координатное множество регулирующих сигналов, которые контролируют клеточные процессы, такие как подвижность, клеточной пролиферации, дифференцировки и экспрессии генов. Модификации физико-химических свойств внеклеточной среде может быть воспринята клеток и вызывает различные физиологические последствия, в том числе деформации клеточной поляризации, миграции, и дифференциации. Остается неясным, однако, как клетки перевести ECM изменения в клеточных биохимических сигналов. Вместо того чтобы рассматривать PAAM гидрогели с резкими химических соединений, введем коммерческую акриламида мономера с гидроксильных групп во время полимеризации PAAM.
