Het bepalen van de mechanismen die de gastheer immuunrespons op deze pathogenen rijden zal de ontwikkeling van nieuwe preventiestrategieën en therapeutische middelen die het effect van deze infecties verminderen bevorderen. De beschreven protocollen zijn zeer flexibel en kan gemakkelijk worden aangepast aan een breed scala PAMPs en schade geassocieerde moleculaire patronen (gedempt) te evalueren. Bovendien met een paar extra aanpassingen deze protocollen kunnen ook worden toegepast op studies die allergische luchtwegen ziekteprogressie of gastheer-pathogeen interacties met levende bacteriën, virussen of schimmels 5-10.
