melanogaster דרוזופילה שמש כאורגניזם מודל מצוין ללמוד מניפולציות סביבתיות וגנטיות המשפיעות על התנהגות. התנהגות כזו היא פעילות של תנועה ספונטנית. כאן אנו מתארים הפרוטוקול שלנו אשר מנצל צגי אוכלוסיית דרוזופילה ומערכת מעקב המאפשרת ניטור רציף של הפעילות של תנועה הספונטנית של זבובים במשך כמה ימים בכל פעם. שיטה זו היא פשוטה, אמינה, ואובייקטיבית וניתן להשתמש בם כדי לבחון את השפעות הזדקנות, מין, שינויים בתוכן הקלורי של מזון, תוספת של תרופות, או מניפולציות גנטיות המחקות מחלות אנושיות.
