Het doel van dit rapport is om de protocollen te beschrijven voor het vergelijken van de microRNA (miRNA) profielen van humane geïnduceerde pluripotente stamcellen (iPS) cellen, retinale pigment epitheel (RPE), afkomstig van menselijke iPS cellen (iPS-RPE), en foetale RPE. De protocollen omvatten collectie van RNA voor analyse door middel van microarray, en de analyse van microarray data te miRNAs een differentiële expressie tussen drie soorten cellen te identificeren. De methoden voor de cultuur van iPS cellen en foetale RPE worden toegelicht. Het protocol voor differentiatie van RPE uit menselijke iPS wordt ook beschreven.
