Microdissectie is gebruikt voor de behandeling van weefsels aan DNA, RNA en eiwit meer dan tien jaar. Laser capture microscopie (LCM) is de meest voorkomende microdissection techniek die tegenwoordig worden gebruikt. In deze techniek wordt een laser gebruikt om een thermoplastisch membraan dat een gedehydrateerde weefselsectie 1 ligt over focaal smelten.
