I tillegg er et sett grunntester brukt til å undersøke aktiviteten til forbigående uttrykt T. reesei Cel5A, inklusive SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, zymography, så vel som fluorescens-og fargestoffbaserte substrat degradering analyser. Systemet som er beskrevet her kan brukes til å frembringe en aktiv celleulase i en kort tidsperiode, slik som å vurdere potensialet for videre produksjon i planter gjennom konstitutive eller induserbare ekspresjonssystemer.
