Vloeibare spuitgieten (LIM) (ook bekend als reactie spuitgieten) wordt vaak gebruikt om elastomeer apparaten van thermohardende elastomeren produceren, maar hoge gereedschappen en apparatuur kosten vereisen een groot deel van up-front investeringen 1. Bovendien LIM kan technisch uitdagende en duur om te implementeren in gevallen met complexe geometrie en eisen voor buitenlaag. Daardoor is het meestal onpraktisch traditionele LIM gebruik in ultra-lage hoeveelheden of met een vroeg stadium apparaat ontwerpen die vaak maken iteratieve revisies. De typische procedure voor het spuitgieten elastomeermaterialen gaat injecteren vloeibare monomeren bij drukken ongeveer 150 psi in een mal met behulp van gespecialiseerde molding machines 2. De temperaturen en drukken worden gecontroleerd om laminaire stroming zorgen en lucht wordt opgesloten in de matrijs 3 te voorkomen. Helaas is deze werkwijze in het algemeen meer geschikt voor grootschalige productie gegeven spuitgietapparatuur hoge kosten en de vereiste gespecialiseerde injectie en feedback controlesystemen. Bij rapid prototyping van polyurethaan (PU) delen, is het mogelijk stereolithografie (SLA) om een mal meester creëren en produceren een siliconen rubber mal 6,7. Deze techniek is niet geschikt voor buitenlaag omdat het moeilijk nauwkeurige uitlijning van omspoten onderdelen voldoen, zoals de siliconen doorontwerp, niet een stijve structuur. Bovendien productie van apparaten met complexe geometrieën, zoals invaginations of uitgeholde delen, is moeilijk of onmogelijk. De eis voor complexe of nauwkeurige mal scheidingslijnen en stijve dunne elementen zijn vaker wel dan niet, onverenigbaar is met de vloeibare rubber molding proces. De hiervoor genoemde productie-omvang of laat stadium prototyping processen zijn vaak onpraktisch voor een vroeg stadium medisch hulpmiddel ontwikkeling waarbij een paar apparaten moeten worden geproduceerd voor proof-of-concept en haalbaarheid in menselijke studies, zoals vaak het geval is in de academische laboratorium en start-up bedrijf omgevingen. Het gebrek aan alternatieven betekent vaak dat zelfs de ontwikkeling in een vroeg stadium zou hoge kosten, waarvoor vele apparaat ontwikkelaars om het apparaat de functionaliteit te beperken of zet de ontwikkeling in de wacht terwijl de extra gelden worden bijeengebracht. Dit draagt ​​bij tot een dramatische vertraging van het ontwikkelingsproces aangezien een groot deel van medische hulpmiddelen re<html> katern implementatie van complexe functies. Het is ook moeilijk om de dure ontwikkeling van dergelijke inrichtingen financieren aangezien proof-of-concept gegevens dikwijls nog niet vastgesteld. We ondervonden deze obstructie in een recent project binnen deze lab, die de ontwikkeling van een siliconen intravaginale sonde betrokken bij omspoten elektrische en optische sensoren die welke een komvormige tip te voldoen aan bepaalde cervicale geometrieën. De in dit artikel beschreven proces documenteert onze poging om deze vicieuze cirkel te omzeilen en snel te bereiken proof-of-concept voor LIM medische hulpmiddelen. Het afbreken van het spuitgietproces in deze stappen kunnen wij traditionele LIM apparatuur afzien ten gunste van goedkope alternatieven. Bijvoorbeeld, in plaats van bewerking van een metalen matrijs of gieten siliconenrubber mal van een mal meester, de mallen van de in dit manuscript beschreven protocol zijn gemaakt van acrylonitril butadieen styreen (ABS) plastic met een gefuseerde-Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printer 8,9. Vergeleken met het bouwen van metalen mallen of SLA mallen, FDM is over het algemeen een goedkoper en sneller proces. Tamelijk complexe mallen kunnen snel worden afgedrukt op een eigen 3D printer of goedkoop geproduceerd door een van de vele aan 3D printing beschikbare diensten. Zo werd een complex achtdelige 3D geprint matrijs gebruikt om de aangetoonde intravaginale sonde in de resultaten representatief deel gegoten en getoond in figuren 14 en 15. Alle onderdelen van deze vorm kan ongeveer 1,5 dagen worden afgedrukt op een eigen 3D printer. Doorlooptijden voor eenvoudiger mallen kan een paar uur. In plaats van een traditionele LIM machine die het samen mengen, injectie en uitharding, is het mogelijk om een ​​laboratorium mixer homogene menging, een gemodificeerd exsiccator voor injectie, en een standaard droogstoof voor het genezen waarborgen. Het injectiesysteem werd gemaakt met behulp van off-the-shelf componenten en omvat de toevoeging van een positieve druk toevoerleiding in de exsiccator die verbinding maakt met een injectiespuit gevuld met gemengde elastomeer. Dit maakt de creatie van een 40-50 psi drukverschil dat voldoende is om vloeibaar materiaal injectie in de matrijsholte. Deze techniek liet ons toe om produce siliconen intravaginale sondes met accenten van elektrische en optische sensoren om proof-of-concept gegevens te verzamelen voor een Fase I klinische studie. Silicone is gekozen vanwege de behoefte aan biologische inertheid en het vermogen te steriliseren met een verscheidenheid van methoden 10,11. Verder heeft de inrichting een vereiste complexe en onconventionele komvormige geometrie aan het uiteinde van de sonde als de sensoren zich bevinden om met de cervix. Zonder het gebruik van de beschreven techniek, zou het een veel duurder en langdurig proces om deze apparaten te produceren zijn. rapid and low-cost prototyping of medical devices using 3d printed molds for liquid injection molding

Biologisch inerte elastomeren zoals silicone gunstig materialen voor medische apparaat fabricage, maar vormen en genezing van deze elastomeren met behulp van traditionele vloeibare spuitgietprocessen kan een duur proces te wijten zijn aan gereedschappen en apparatuur kosten. Bijgevolg heeft het traditioneel onpraktisch vloeibare spuitgieten voor goedkope, rapid prototyping toepassingen geweest. We hebben een methode bedacht voor een snelle en goedkope productie van vloeibare elastomeer spuitgiet apparaten die gesmolten Deposition Modeling 3D-printers voor schimmels design en een gewijzigde desiccator als een injectie systeem gebruikt. Lage kosten en snelle doorlooptijd in deze techniek verlagen de drempel om iteratief ontwerpen en prototyping complexe elastomeer apparaten. Bovendien kan CAD-modellen die in dit proces later worden aangepast voor metalen gietvorm tooling ontwerp, waardoor een gemakkelijke overgang naar een traditionele spuitgietproces. Wij hebben deze techniek gebruikt voor de productie intravaginal sondes met een complexe geometrie, evenals overmolding over metalen onderdelen, met behulp van instrumenten die vaker beschikbaar zijn binnen een academische onderzoekslaboratorium. Echter, deze techniek gemakkelijk worden aangepast aan vloeibare spuitgegoten inrichtingen voor vele andere toepassingen.
