Myeloid hücreler tümörler içinde en bol bulunan bağışıklık hücreleri ve tümör gelişimini teşvik ettiği gösterilmiştir. Modern Intravital görüntüleme teknikleri organ içindeki canlı hücresel davranış gözlem imkanı ancak bağırsak gibi nedeniyle, organ ve tümör erişilebilirlik bazı kanser türlerinde zor olabilir.
