El propósito principal de este artículo es demostrar que la construcción de una instalación de pez cebra funcional no es complicado y puede ser construido por investigadores noveles peces con un mínimo conocimiento de la construcción. En modelos in vivo son esenciales en la realización de la investigación biomédica integral, ya que permiten la investigación in vitro para ser traducido a nivel del sistema y del organismo. Por ejemplo, la investigación con mamíferos pequeños, es decir, los roedores, se ha demostrado necesaria en el desarrollo de fármacos y en la mejora de los medicamentos disponibles. Sin embargo, la complejidad (financiero y logístico) podría hacer que sea prácticamente imposible construir y mantener instalaciones de roedores de experimentación propone en pequeñas instituciones académicas de investigación. Sin embargo, la investigación in vivo se puede realizar utilizando otras especies de animales que requieren la logística menos elaboradas. El pez cebra (Danio rerio) se han utilizado con éxito como un modelo in vivo para estudiar la genética, el desarrollo, fisiopatología, y 1,2,10,11,12 farmacología. Las instalaciones necesarias para albergar el pez cebra para la experimentación son relativamente simples y significativamente menos costoso en comparación con rinstalaciones Odent. En vivo la investigación biomédica es fundamental para traducir en hallazgos in vitro a los avances clínicos. Instituciones académicas pequeñas con recursos limitados les resulta prácticamente imposible construir y mantener instalaciones de roedores típicos para la investigación. El pez cebra investigación ha demostrado ser una alternativa valiosa para la investigación in vivo en farmacología, la fisiología, el desarrollo y los estudios genéticos. En este artículo se demuestra que una instalación de pez cebra funcional puede construirse de una manera fácil y asequible. Demostramos que una instalación de este tipo podría ser construido en alrededor de un día de trabajo con un mínimo de herramientas y conocimientos. El costo de la instalación de pez cebra pecera 27 1.8 L construido en este estudio fue de aproximadamente $ 1,500.
