Strategieën voor het verzwakken van achteruitgang in balans functie met toenemende leeftijd zijn voornamelijk gericht op fysieke therapieën, waaronder balans taken en oefening. Om het effect van NIR behandeling bij jonge (4 weken) en oudere vergelijk (8-9 maanden) muizen meten we de expressie van antioxidant superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD-1) bij jonge (n = 16) en oudere (n = 20) muizen die waren NIR-behandelde, schijn-behandelde of NIR-geblokkeerd.
