O glaucoma é a segunda principal causa mundial de cegueira irreversível 1. Pressão intra-ocular (PIO) elevada é um fator de risco causal para a presença ea progressão do glaucoma 2-7. &#160; PIO é regulada pelo equilíbrio entre a formação e escoamento do humor aquoso 8. Os locais de maior resistência ao escoamento do tecido são juxtacanicular e a parede interna do canal de Schlemm (CS), a interface entre SC e a malha trabecular (TM) 9-11. Enquanto TM rigidez pode contribuir para a prevenção de colapso SC em face da elevação da PIO, Overby 12 et ai. Demonstraram recentemente que a expressão do gene no glaucoma é alterada, o que resulta num aumento da rigidez SC endotelial, impedindo a formação de poros, levando a elevação da pressão intra- olhos glaucomatosos 13. trabecular meshwork response to pressure elevation in the living human eye

As características mecânicas da malha trabecular (TM) está ligada à resistência de escoamento e a pressão intra-ocular (PIO) a regulação. A lógica por trás dessa técnica é a observação direta da resposta mecânica da TM para o aumento da PIO aguda. Antes da digitalização, a PIO é medido no início e durante a elevação da PIO.
