DTI는 생체 조직 (15) 내의 물 분자의 확산에 민감하다. 뇌에서 물의 확산에 의한 이러한 막은 및 미엘린 등 장벽 이방성 (요철)이다. WM은 확산에 섬유 (16)의 방향에 수직보다 더 큰 평행 의미, 높은 확산 이방성을 가지고있다. 소수 이방성 (FA)는 이방 적으로 확산하는 분자의 선호도를 설명하는 스칼라 양이다. measuring connectivity in the primary visual pathway in human albinism using diffusion tensor imaging and tractography
