Mirror therapie is uitgevoerd volgens de effectieve ergotherapie in een klinische setting voor functioneel herstel van een aangedane arm na een beroerte. Het wordt uitgevoerd door het opwekken van een illusie door het gebruik van een spiegel alsof de aangedane arm beweegt in real-time tijdens het verplaatsen van de gezonde arm. Het kan de hersenen neuroplasticiteit te vergemakkelijken door middel van de activering van de sensomotorische cortex. Echter, conventionele spiegeltherapie een kritische beperking dat de hemiplegische arm eigenlijk beweegt. Aldus hebben we een real-time 2-assige robot mirror systeem als eenvoudige uitbreidingsmodule conventionele spiegeltherapie met een gesloten feedbackmechanisme met real-time beweging van de hemiplegische arm mogelijk maakt. We gebruikten 3 Attitude and Heading Reference System sensoren, 2 borstelloze DC-motoren voor de elleboog en pols gewrichten en exoskeletal frames. We verder geselecteerde taken die bruikbaar zijn voor activiteiten van daily levende training door middel van feedback van revalidatie artsen. Een CVA patiënt toonden verbetering in de Fugl-Meyer beoordelingsschaal en elleboog flexiespasticiteit na 2 weken toepassing van de spiegel robotsysteem. Robot spiegeltherapie kan proprioceptieve ingang vergroten om de sensorische cortex, die wordt belangrijk geacht neuroplasticiteit en functioneel herstel van hemiplegische behandelgroepen.
