Eiwit-eiwit interacties spelen een essentiële rol in de functie van een levend organisme. Zodra een interactie geïdentificeerd en gevalideerd moet worden karakteriseren de structurele en mechanistische niveau. Verschillende biochemische en biofysische methoden bestaan ​​voor een dergelijk doel. Onder hen, fluorescentie anisotropie is een krachtige techniek bijzonder gebruikt wanneer de fluorescentie-intensiteit van een fluorofoor gemerkt eiwit constant op eiwit-eiwit interactie blijft.
