Anestesi-induceret udviklingstoksicitet (AIDN) -forskning har fokuseret på gnavere, som ikke er bredt anvendelige for mennesker. Ikke-menneskelige primatmodeller er mere relevante, men er cost-prohibitive og vanskelige at bruge til forsøg. Grisetten er derimod en klinisk relevant, praktisk dyremodel, der er ideel til undersøgelse af anæstetisk neurotoksicitet.
