Perikardiell patcher blir ofte brukt i karkirurgi å lukke fartøyer. For å lette studier av neointimal hyperplasi som dannes på lappen, har vi utviklet en rottemodell av plasteret angioplasti som kan brukes enten i en vene eller en arterie, og skaper en lapp eller et plaster venoplasty arteroplastisk kirurgi, respektivt. Tekniske aspektene ved denne modellen er diskutert. IR-nyre IVC eller aorta blir dissekert og deretter festet proksimalt og distalt. En 3 mm venotomy eller arteriotomi utføres i infrarenale inferior vena cava eller aorta fra 6 til 8 uker gamle Wistar-rotter. Et bovint perikard lapp (3 mm x 1,5 mm x 0,6 mm) blir deretter anvendt for å lukke området ved hjelp av en 10-0 nylon sutur. Sammenlignet med arterielle lapper, viser venøse plastre øket neointimal tykkelse på postoperativ dag 7. Dette nye modellen av pericardial lapp angioplasti kan brukes til å undersøke neointimal hyperplasi på vaskulære biomaterialer, samt for å sammenligne forskjellene mellom de arterielle og venøsemiljøer.

Etter oppdateringen angioplastikk, var det ingen trombose i enten den venøse (n = 42) eller arterielt (n = 24) koblingsgrupper.
