Det finns flera utmaningar för området integrerade fotonik att övervinna för att komplexa och skalbara system för fotoniska enheter att vara genomförbart. Kisel visar stort löfte som en fotonik plattform för kvantinformationsbehandling 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. En av de vitala komponenterna hos kvantfotoniska kretsar är fotonkälla. Photon-pair källor har utvecklats från kisel i form av mikro-ringresonatorer görs via tredjedel ordningens olinjär process, spontan fyrvågsblandning (SFWM) 6, 7, 8. Dessa källor är i stånd att producera par av oskiljbara fotoner, som är idealiska för försök med foton hoptrassling 9. Det är viktigt att notera att ring resonator källor kan arbeta med både medurs och moturs förökning, och de två olika utbredningsriktningar genrally oberoende av varandra. Detta gör att en enda ring för att fungera som två källor. Detta är en mycket önskvärd form av hoptrasslade tillståndet känt som ett N00N tillstånd (N = 2) 10. Passerar detta tillstånd genom en on-chip Mach-Zehnder-interferometer (MZI) resulterar i tillståndet: <img alt="ekvation 4" src="/files/ftp_upload/55257/55257eq4.jpg" /> Detta tillstånd oscillerar mellan maximal tillfällighet och noll tillfällighet vid två gångerfrekvensen av klassisk interferens i en MZI, fördubblar känsligheten hos interferometern 10. Här presenterar vi det förfarande som används för att testa ett sådant integrerat fotonkälla och MZI enhet.

Kiselfotoniska marker har potential att realisera komplexa integrerade kvantinformationsbearbetningskretsar, inklusive fotonkällor, kvantbitens manipulation, och integrerade singelfotondetektorer. Här presenterar vi de viktigaste aspekterna för framställning och testning av en kiselfotoniska kvant chip med en integrerad fotonkälla och två-foton-interferometer. Den viktigaste aspekten av en integrerad kvant krets är att minimera förlust, så att alla de genererade fotoner detekteras med högsta möjliga trohet. Här beskriver vi hur man utför låga förluster kant koppling genom användning av en ultra-hög numerisk apertur fiber att nära matcha läget av kisel vågledarna. Genom användning av en optimerad svetsskarvning recept, är UHNA fibern sömlöst gränssnitt med en standard single-mode fiber. Denna låga förluster koppling tillåter mätningen av high-fidelity fotonproduktion i en integrerad kisel ringresonator och den efterföljande tvåfotons interferens av den producerade photons i ett nära integrerat Mach-Zehnder-interferometer. Detta dokument beskriver de väsentliga förfaranden för framställning och karakterisering av högpresterande och skalbara kiselkvantfotoniska kretsar.

Enskilda fotonberäkningar från varje detektor, samt koincidens räknas, uppsamlades som den relativa fasen mellan de två banorna var avstämd. De individuella pulser (figur 5A) visar den klassiska interferensmönstret från en MZI med visibilities av 94,5 ± 1,6% och 94,9 ± 0,9%.
