Alkoholisk leversygdom (ALD), som er forårsaget af overkonsumtion af alkohol, er en væsentlig årsag til alkoholrelateret morbiditet og dødelighed. I USA involverer næsten halvdelen af ​​leversygdødsfald alkohol 1 , og ALD er ansvarlig for næsten 1 ud af 3 levertransplantationer 2 . ALD har et bredt spektrum. Steatosis, som er præget af overskydende lipidakkumulering i hepatocytter, forekommer i det tidlige stadium af kraftigt drikke og er reversibel ved ophør af alkoholbrug. Ethanol kan tilsættes direkte til vandet, og eksponering for 2% ethanol i 24 timer er tilstrækkelig til at inducere leverstatat og fibrogenrespons i zebrafisklarver 13 , 15 . Den hurtige eksterne udvikling og translucens af zebrafisk larver gør det muligt at karakterisere alkoholens påvirkning i leveren i realtid og i faste prøver. Tilgængeligheden af ​​celletypespecifikke fluorescerende transgene linjer og de seneste fremskridt inden for konfokal mikroskopi letter undersøgelsen af, hvordan forskellige levercelletyper ændrer deres morfologi og adfærd som reaktion på akut ethanolbehandling 11 , 15 . Markering af alle levercelletyper på samme tid ved brug af transgen sebrafisk kræver generering af individuelle transgene linjer, der hver mærker en levercelletype med en unik fluorofor. histological analyses of acute alcoholic liver injury in zebrafish

Alkoholisk leversygdom (ALD) henviser til skader på leveren på grund af akut eller kronisk alkoholmisbrug.
