Neu5Ac를 내생 적으로 합성 할 수는 있지만, 인간은 CMP-Neu5Ac hydroxylase 2 , 3을 암호화하는 CMAH 유전자에서 1 차 엑손 결실로 인해 Neu5Gc를 생산할 수 없습니다. 그러나 동물성 식품은 Neu5Gc 4 , 5 , 6 의식이 공급원 일 수있어 Neu5Gc 항체 생산을 유도하여 Neu5Gc 7에 대한 면역 반응을 유발합니다. Neu5Gc의식이 효과는 만성 염증 및 여러 가지 다른 질병에 기여하는 것으로 의심됩니다 ( 8 , 9 , 10) .
