CO2 -uitstoot en de daaruit voortvloeiende opwarming zijn kritische milieuvraagstukken die een grote hoeveelheid onderzoek in de afgelopen jaren hebben aangetrokken. Koolstofvastlegging en -opslag (CCS) is erkend als een potentiële technologie ter vermindering van de CO2 -uitstoot naar de atmosfeer1,2. De meest uitdagende deel van de CCS-keten is de opname van CO2, die ook de meest kostbare fase3. Als gevolg hiervan is er een focus op de ontwikkeling van nieuwe technologieën voor CO2 -vangst van energiecentrales en andere industriële faciliteiten.
CaL als een na verbranding CO2 capture-technologie, voor het eerst werd voorgesteld door Shimizu et al. 4 CO2 is gevangen genomen door een CaO-gebaseerde sorptiemiddel op 600-700 ° C in een reactor genoemd een carbonator, en uitgebracht door latere calcinatie bij 850-950 ° C (in een calciner) volgens Eq. (1), voor de productie van een hoge-zuiverheid-CO2 -stream geschikt voor beslaglegging5,6. Dit concept is aangetoond op experimentele schaal door verschillende fracties en met verschillende configuraties en schalen, zoals de 0.2 MWth -piloot in Stuttgart, de 1 MWth -piloot in Darmstadt, de 1,7 MWth -piloot in La Pereda en de 1.9 MWth -eenheid in Taiwan9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16. Hoewel dit proces heeft bewezen, zijn er nog mogelijkheden voor het verbeteren van de thermische efficiëntie, zoals door het wijzigen van de standaard operationele voorwaarden en wijzigingen in het ontwerp van de configuratie van de reactor.
Het gebruik van warmte leidingen tussen de combustor en de calciner heeft onderzocht in plaats van oxy-verbrandend brandstof in de calciner. De resultaten voor de CO2 -vangst prestaties zijn vergelijkbaar met die van een conventionele CaL pilot-plant, echter dit proces heeft hogere plant rendementen en lagere CO2 vermijden kost17. Martínez et al. 18 onderzocht de integratiemogelijkheden van de warmte om te Verwarm het solide materiaal invoeren van het calciner en vermindering van de warmte die nodig is in de calciner. De resultaten toonden 9% daling in het verbruik van steenkool in vergelijking met die van de standaard zaak. Andere bestudeerde mogelijkheden voor warmte-integratie hebben ook integratie van interne en externe opties19beschouwd.
Een van de hoofdproblemen van de CaL-cyclus van de economisch oogpunt is het leveren de energie die nodig is in de calciner door middel van brandstof verbranding20. Verhoging van de zuurstofconcentratie in de calciner van inlaat is voorgesteld om te verminderen of zelfs voorkomen naar de nood van CO2 recycle aan de calciner. Dit alternatief vermindert de kapitaalkosten (verminderde grootte van calciner en lucht scheiding eenheden (ASU)), zodat het concurrentievermogen van dit proces aanzienlijk kunnen worden verbeterd. De drastische verandering in de omstandigheden van de verbranding kan worden bereikt door te profiteren van de reactie van de endotherme calcinatie en de grote CaO/CaCO3 stroom circuleren van de carbonator bij lagere temperaturen (noch voordeel is beschikbaar met de Oxy-verbrandingstechnologie).
Dit werk is gericht op het ontwikkelen van een standaard gebruiksprocedure voor het uitvoeren van een proeffabriek CaL met een circulerende Fluidized Bed (CFB) carbonator en een calciner Fluidized Bed borrelen (BFB) met 100% O2 concentratie in de calciner van inlaat. Verschillende experimentele campagnes zijn uitgevoerd tijdens de inbedrijfstelling van de proeffabriek voor goede werking als de zuurstof concentratie verhoogd. Ook werden drie kalksteen deeltje grootte distributies (100-200 µm; 200-300 µm; 300-400 µm) bestudeerd om te onderzoeken hoe deze parameter beïnvloedt de elutriation van deeltjes en efficiëntie in deze operationele modus vast te leggen.

Calcium (CaL) in een lus is een na verbranding CO2 capture-technologie die geschikt is voor de aanpassing van bestaande energiecentrales. Het CaL-proces gebruikt kalksteen als een goedkoop en gemakkelijk beschikbaar CO2 sorptiemiddel.
