Denne protokollen demonstrerer en rimelig og effektiv teknikk for fabrikasjon periodiske matriser av plasmonic gull nanocups. Fremveksten av plasmonics i forbindelse med forbedret nanofabrication og syntese teknikker har ført til en rekke spennende teknologier som sub Diffraksjon begrenset circuity, forbedret kjemisk påvisning og optisk sensing1 ,2,3. I denne protokollen viser vi en skalerbar og relativt rimelig teknikk i stand til å fabrikere nanopatterned plasmonic underlag bruke kommersielt tilgjengelige polymere nanospheres og en etsning trinn etterfulgt av metall deponering. I motsetning til andre teknikker for fabrikasjon nanopatterned underlag, for eksempel elektron strålen litografi4, denne teknikken kan raskt og effektivt skaleres til 300 mm wafere og utover med minimal innsats og bruker en overføring steg for å produsere fleksibel og conformal filmer5.
Siden romertiden, har vi kjent at visse metaller som gull og sølv kan ha strålende optiske egenskaper når de er fint delt. I dag, vi forstår at disse metallpartikler ha en effekt kalt "Språktilpasset overflaten plasmon resonans" (LSPR) når deres dimensjoner nærmer nanoskala. LSPR tilsvarer en stående bølge som svakt bundet elektroner i metall svinge sammenhengende når lys av visse frekvenser tennes metall-partikler. Anisotrop nanostrukturer er av spesiell interesse ettersom unike optisk resonanser kan komme som et resultat av symmetri bryte6,7,8.
Belysning av halv-shell (nanocup) strukturer med lys kan opphisse elektrisk dipol eller magnetiske dipol plasmon modi, avhengig av faktorer som deponering vinkelen av metall, retningen på underlaget med hensyn til det innfallende lyset, og polarisering av hendelsen lys9. Nanocups har ofte vært vurdert analoge til tredimensjonale split-ring resonatorer, der resonans frekvensen kan rundet som en LC-oscillator10,11. Resonans frekvensen for størrelsen på polymere nanospheres her (170 nm), hvor mye avsatt gull (20 nm), og etch priser resonans frekvenser som spenner over de synlige og nær IR.
Den optiske egenskapene av gull nanocups kan måles i overføring eller refleksjon, avhengig av underlaget brukes for spin belegg. I presentert protokollen valgte vi å bruke 2 i. silisiumskiver som underlaget og utføre refleksjon mål etter metall deponering. Målingene ble utført ved hjelp av et mikroskop koplet til en dispersiv spectrometer med en halogen-lyskilde. Vi har også hatt suksess med å bruke glass underlag, slik at både overføring og refleksjon målinger umiddelbart etter metall avsetning. Videre, denne teknikken kan enkelt skaleres og er ikke begrenset til 2 i. wafere. Grunn av bred kommersiell tilgjengelighet av høykvalitets monodisperse polymere nanospheres er det enkelt å finjustere den optiske egenskapene av disse strukturene ved å begynne med annerledes størrelse nanospheres.
I denne protokollen, en teknikk for å dikte Anisotrop ødelagte (eller nanocup) gull nanostrukturer bruker en metode som kalles kolloidalt litografi er demonstrert. Kolloidalt litografi bruker selv-montering av svært monodisperse polymere nanosphere å raskt mønster et substrat som kan bearbeides videre inn i et plasmonic substrat etter frese belegg et tynt lag av gull. Likeledes, det er mulig å stille anisotropy av underlaget ved å vippe eksempel underlaget under metall deponering. De resulterende strukturene er polarisering-følsom på grunn av anisotropy av den dannet nanostructure. I de senere årene har feltet i plasmonics eksplodert som forskere har vist spennende programmer til kjemiske og optisk sensing i kombinasjon med nye nanofabrication teknikker. En plasmon er en kvantum av kostnad tetthet svingning som låner nanoskala metaller som gull og sølv unike optiske egenskaper. Disse ødelagte (eller nanocup) strukturer kan vise flere unike lys-bøying og polarisering-avhengige optiske egenskaper som enkel isotropic nanostrukturer ikke. Forskere er interessert i produksjon av periodiske matriser av nanocups for en rekke applikasjoner som rimelig optiske enheter, overflate forbedret Raman spredning, og manipulere indikasjon. Vi presenterer en skalerbar teknikk basert på kolloidale litografi der det er mulig å lett dikte store periodiske matriser av nanocups bruker spinn belegg og selv samlet kommersielt tilgjengelig polymere nanospheres. Gull nanocups ble tilberedt med 170 nm diameter polystyren nanospheres. Etter annealing i 2 minutter ved 107 ° C og etsing med en 75 W, 20 sccm O2 plasma for 165 s, resulterende filmen var preget med SEM (figur 1).
