הארכת עצמות (DO) היא שטכניקה כירורגית בשימוש נרחב קלינית1,2,3,4 בני אדם עבור1,התחתון2 והארכת איבר עליון3 , טיפול אחרי עצם התביעה, או לרגנרציה של פגם עצם בעקבות ניתוח עצם הגידול כריתה כמו גם כמו שיקום פה ולסת.4. לעשות הפניות העצם התחדשות לאחר השמה של fixator החיצוני העצם ואת osteotomy. הגפיים osteotomized מועברים רחוקים אחד מהשני על ידי הסחת דעת הדרגתית2 להגיע התארכות הרצוי. פרק איחוד שכאמור, שבמהלכו יש אין התארכות יותר.
הפרוצדורה לעשות מחולקת לשלושה שלבים ברורים: השהיה, הסחת דעת, איחוד. באופן כללי, 7 ימים החביון מתחיל רק לאחר osteotomy4. דבר זה מאפשר תיקון עצם להתחיל את השלב הראשוני של תהליך הריפוי4. תקופת החביון ואחריו נקודה הסחת הדעת שבו מוחלות המתיחה כוחות קסם regenerated, הרקמות הרכות שמסביב1,2,4. כאשר התארכות הרצוי, הסחת דעת תחנות והתקופה איחוד מתחיל. במהלך תקופה זו, fixator חיצוני נשמר עד העצם regenerated מספיק פונקציונלית כדי לתמוך להסרת שלו.

פרוטוקולים לעשות רבים היו חייתיים יישומית שונים8,9,10 ללמוד תהליכי תיקון עצם ולא להגדיל את עצם איחוד. חולדות, התמקדו רוב המחקרים11,12,13,14,15 כיצד לקצר את פרוטוקול לעשות על-ידי זירוז קונסולידציה קסם. כמה מחקרים ניסויים אלה לשימוש זמין כבר מסחרית חיצוני תופסנים יישומים קליניים אנושי5,13,15,16. עם זאת, סוגים אלה של fixator חיצוניים אינם מתאימים לעשות על עצם הירך עכברוש, אשר מוצגים מאפיינים אנטומיים שונים של עצם הירך אנושי. יתר על כן, רק מעט מחקרים בבירור להדגים את היעילות של הפרוטוקולים שלהם בקבלת עצם regenerated פונקציונלי7,16. לכן קשה להשוות תוצאות של מחקרים שונים לעשות, בשל שלהם פרוטוקולים שונות וחוסר מידע לגבי14,1713,12,fixator חיצוני.
