בעשרות השנים האחרונות, השכיחות של הפרעות ניווניות כגון מחלת אלצהיימר (AD), מחלת פרקינסון (PD), גדל. הפרעות הקשורות לגיל אלה מאופיינים במראה של אגרגטים חלבון עם מבנה fibrillary במוחם של חולים אלו. בדיוק הסיבה חלבונים מסיסים בדרך כלל עוברים תהליך צבירת נשאר ממעטים להבין. גילוי חלבונים צבירת אינה מוגבלת תהליכי מחלה וזה במקום חלק מתהליך הזדקנות נורמלית מאפשר חקר המנגנונים המולקולריים הסלולר המסדירים מצבור חלבון, ללא שימוש ectopically הביע אנושי חלבונים הקשורים למחלה. כאן נתאר מתודולוגיות לבחון צבירת חלבון הגלום ב Caenorhabditis elegans דרך גישות משלימות. ראשית, נבחן כיצד לגדל מספר גדול של גיל-מסונכרנות C. elegans לקבל חיות בגילאי, אנו מציגים את ההליכים ביוכימי כדי לבודד אגרגטים מאוד לא מסיס-גדול. בשילוב עם נוקאאוט גנטי יישוב, זה אפשרי לנתח את התפקיד של גנים של עניין לקדם או למנוע צבירת חלבונים תלויי-גיל באמצעות ספקטרומטר מסה כמותיים או ניתוח מקיף. ניתוח המבוסס על המועמד עם נוגדנים. ממצאים אלה ואז מאושרות על-ידי ניתוח ויוו עם חיות הטרנסגניים המבטאים חלבונים צבירת נוטה מתויג פלורסנט. שיטות אלה צריך לעזור להבהיר מדוע חלבונים מסוימים נוטים צבירה עם הגיל, ובסופו של דבר איך לשמור חלבונים אלה תקינים.
