Micro rayures tests induit une fracture mixte3. En outre, dans les spécimens de l’os cortical bovine longitudinale court, processus de rupture sont activés comme la sonde creuse plus profondément. Dans cette étude, nous mesurons la ténacité à la rupture de l’OS compact bovin de la méso-échelle (osteons) à la micro-échelle (niveau lamellaire) en utilisant une nouvelle technique de grattage micro1,2,3,4, 5. Processus de rupture y compris initiation et le crack propagation des fissures dans les os sont directement influencés par les échelles de longueur en raison de l’organisation à différents niveaux de la hiérarchie et les différents constituants structures. Évaluer la fracture de l’os à plus petites échelles de longueur est donc essentiel de ce qui donne une compréhension fondamentale de la fragilité osseuse. D’une part, les tests conventionnels tels que la flexion trois points, compact de tension, et flexion sont couramment effectués sur bovin fémur et le tibia pour la caractérisation de la fracture à l’échelle macroscopique6,,7, 8. en revanche, pour mesurer la ténacité à l’échelle microscopique, fracture d’indentation du Vicker a proposé9. Indentation micro a effectué un pénétrateur de la Vicker pour générer des fissures radiales. En outre, la méthode Oliver Pharr nanoindentation fracture toughness a été réalisée à l’aide d’un cube sharp angle pénétrateur10.
Dans les études de ténacité fracture nanoindentation basée susmentionnées, les longueurs des fissures ainsi générées ont été mesurées par l’observateur et un modèle semi-empirique a servi à calculer la ténacité. Cependant, ces méthodes sont reproductibles, subjective, et les résultats dépendent fortement de la compétence de l’observateur en raison de la nécessité de mesurer la longueur de la fissure à l’aide de la microscopie optique ou microscope électronique à balayage. En outre, scratch tests ont été menés à l’échelle nanométrique, mais le modèle mathématique sous-jacente n’est pas basé sur la physique car il ne tient pas compte de la réduction des effectifs en raison de fissures et défauts11. Ainsi, il existe un écart de connaissances : une méthode d’évaluation de la fracture à l’échelle microscopique basée sur un modèle mécaniste basé sur la physique. Ce fossé du savoir motivé la candidature de micro rayures tests à compact OS en se concentrant d’abord sur des spécimens porcine5. L’étude a maintenant été étendue pour comprendre l’os cortical bovine.
Deux orientations différentes des spécimens sont possibles : longitudinale transversale et short longitudinale. Longitudinale transversale correspond pour fracturer les propriétés perpendiculaires à l’axe longitudinal du fémur. Considérant que, court longitudinal correspondant aux propriétés fracture le long de l’axe longitudinal du fémur5. Dans cette étude, nous appliquons essai de rayure à l’OS corticales de bovins pour caractériser la résistance à la rupture de l’os dans le sens longitudinal court.

Bone est un matériau complex hiérarchique à cinq niveaux distincts de l’organisation. Des facteurs comme le vieillissement et les maladies comme l’ostéoporose augmentent la fragilité des os, ce qui en fait sujettes à rupture. En raison de l’impact socio-économique grande fracture osseuse dans notre société, il y a un besoin de nouvelles façons d’évaluer les performances mécaniques de chaque niveau hiérarchique de l’OS. Bien que rigidité et la résistance peuvent être sondées à toutes les échelles-nano-, micro-, méso-, et macroscopique – fracture évaluation a jusqu'à présent été limitée à tests macroscopiques. Cette restriction limite notre compréhension de la fracture de l’os et limite la portée des études cliniques et de laboratoire. Dans cette recherche, nous étudions la résistance à la rupture de l’OS la microscopique des échelles de longueur mésoscopique à l’aide de micro rayures tests combinés avec la mécanique non linéaire de la rupture. Les essais sont effectués dans le sens longitudinal court sur des spécimens de l’os cortical bovine. On élabore un plan expérimental méticuleux et un grand nombre (102) des tests sont effectués pour évaluer la ténacité des spécimens de la corticale osseuse tout en tenant compte de l’hétérogénéité associée à la microstructure osseuse.

Microscopie à force atomique a été utilisée pour mesurer la rugosité de la surface polie. En règle générale, l’échantillon est considéré comme un bien poli si la rugosité est un ordre de grandeur plus petite que la surface présentant un intérêt. Dans ce cas, la rugosité de surface mesurée de 60 nm sur une superficie de µm de 40 µm x 40 relève clairement de ce critère.
