في دراسة أجريت مؤخرا، واظهرنا أن عندما تم حقن العلاج الجيني الفيروسي من خلال قناة نصف دائري الخلفي الماوس مركزتين المسخ (نموذج من فقدان السمع، واختلال وظيفي الدهليزية)، كفاءة توصيل لخلايا الشعر حسية كان ينظر إليه في الدهليزية الأجهزة، وكذلك كما هو الحال في القوقعة5. كفاءة عالية لتوصيل الحسية الشعر خلية أسفر عن تحسن الوظائف السمعية والدهليزيه في هذه الفئران المسخ.
