Poly (α-hydroxy zuur) (PAHA) is een belangrijke klasse van biologisch afbreekbaar en biocompatibel polymeren met toepassingen variërend van biomedische apparaten voor verpakkingsmateriaal. 1 , 2 hoewel PAHAs kan worden bereid rechtstreeks door polycondensatie van α-hydroxy zuren, het molecuulgewicht (MWs) van de resulterende PAHAs zijn over het algemeen laag. 3 ring-opening polymerisatie (ROP) van lactonen (b.v., lactide en glycolide) is een alternatieve synthetische benadering waarmee de betere controle op MWs en molecuulgewichtsverdeling (Đ) dan polycondensatie. controlled photoredox ring-opening polymerization of o-carboxyanhydrides mediated by ni/zn complexes

Hier beschrijven we een effectieve protocol dat photoredox Ni/Ir katalyse met het gebruik van een Zn-alkoxide voor efficiënte ring-opening polymerisatie, waardoor voor de synthese van isotactic poly (α-hydroxy zuren) combineert met verwachte molecuulgewicht (> 140 kDa) en smalle molecuulgewicht distributies (Mw/Mn < 1.1). De polymerisatie van deze ring-opening is bemiddeld door Ni en Zn complexen in aanwezigheid van een alcohol-initiator en een photoredox Ir katalysator, bestraald door een blauwe LED (400-500 nm). De polymerisatie gebeurt op een lage temperatuur (-15 ° C) om te voorkomen dat ongewenste kant reacties. De volledige monomeer consumptie kan worden bereikt binnen 4-8 uur, een polymeer dicht bij de verwachte molecuulgewicht voorzien van smalle molecuulgewichtsverdeling.
