Måling af metaboliske og endokrine markører under fysisk aktivitet er af relevans for at forstå de fysiologiske konsekvenser af forskellige øvelse modaliteter. Under nogle motion modaliteter (f.eks. høj intensitet interval træning (HIIE)) svinger blod metabolitter og hormonelle niveauer i relativt kort tid1,2,3.
Mange sports (dvs., fodbold, basketball og rugby) består af korte perioder med høj intensitet øvelse adskilt af lav intens motion og/eller passive perioder4,5. HIIE præsenterer ligheder med førnævnte sport og er derfor udbredt som en undervisningsmetode for atleter6. Desuden, på grund af sin lighed med sport, HIIE har været brugt som en model til at studere motion fysiologi7. Udtagning af blodprøve er kritisk at måle fysiologiske variabler, og det er ofte anvendes til forskningsformål og evalueringen af den fysiske tilstand. Udtagning af blodprøve under HIIE kan dog teknisk set vanskelig på grund af den korte tid mellem prøve samlinger. Som en løsning på dette problem præsenterer her vi en metode til at få blodprøver af antecubital venøse kateterisation i korte perioder, mens emner udfører HIIE.

Måling af metaboliske og endokrine markører under fysisk aktivitet er af relevans for at forstå de fysiologiske konsekvenser af forskellige øvelse modaliteter. Under nogle motion modaliteter (f.eks. høj intensitet interval træning), blod metabolitter og hormonelle niveauer ændrer i korte perioder. I den foreliggende undersøgelse beskriver vi en metode til at catheterize den antecubital vene, som giver mulighed for samling af flere blodprøver under træningen. Insulin og venøse laktat koncentrationer blev målt under høj intensitet træning ved anvendelse af den beskrevne metode. Træningen bestod af tre 30 s anfald af høj intensitet øvelse adskilt af 4 min af recovery. Efter den sidste tilbagebetalingsperioden, blev en Wingate test udført. Blodprøver fra antecubital vene blev fremstillet før og efter hver 30 s bout og før og efter Wingate test. Som følge heraf var det muligt at evaluere plasma insulin og venøse blod laktat variationer under træningen.

Som repræsentative resultater brugte vi denne protokol til at måle blod laktat og insulin variation i seks fag under en HIIE i en cyklus ergometer. Spidseffekt og gennemsnitlige strøm til Wingate test var 732 ± 120 og 549 ± 84 watt, henholdsvis. Gennemsnitlige magt blev brugt til at beregne effekt (494 ± 75 watt) under de 30 s anfald af HIIE.
