Denne protokollen forklarer hvordan å sette inn og manipulere C60 molekyler på Grafén slik at 1 D og kvasi - 1 D C60 kjeden strukturer kan realiseres. Teknikkene i dette eksperimentet ble utviklet for å møte behovet for å lede adsorbates til ønskelig konfigurasjoner uten å måtte stole på manuell manipulasjon, som er langsom og kan kreve stor innsats. Prosedyrene som er beskrevet her, er avhengige av bruk av en høy vakuum system med en forberedelse område støtter molekylær avsettelse og termisk annealing prøvene. STM brukes til å beskrive prøvene, men andre molekylære oppløsning teknikker kan brukes.
Termisk fordampning av molekyler i Knudsen celle er en effektiv og ren måte å forberede tynne filmer. I denne protokollen brukes en Knudsen celle til å fordampe C60 molekyler på et Grafén substrat. Denne Knudsen celle fordamperen består hovedsakelig av en kvarts rør, en oppvarming filament, thermocouple ledninger og feedthroughs1,2,3. Kvarts røret brukes til å huse molekylene, tungsten filament varmer molekylene i kvarts rør gjennom brukes gjeldende og thermocouple ledningene brukes til å måle temperaturen. I eksperimentene kontrolleres deponering frekvensen av tuning temperatur kilden i Knudsen cellen. Thermocouple ledningene er knyttet til den utvendige veggen av kvarts røret og derfor vanligvis måle en temperatur på yttervegg som er litt forskjellig fra temperaturen inne i cellen der molekylær kilden er plassert. For å oppnå nøyaktig temperaturen i kvarts røret, vi utført kalibrering bruker to thermocouple oppsett til å måle temperaturer i og utenfor røret og registrert temperaturforskjell. På denne måten kan vi mer presist kontrollere temperaturen på kilden under de molekylære fordampning eksperimentene ved hjelp av thermocouple ledninger festet utenpå kvarts røret. Fordi en liten mengde sublimated molekylene vil være i en gass fase ved lavere trykk, når molekylene er fordampet, er det vanligvis en tilknyttet press endring. Derfor overvåker vi endring av trykket i Last låsen forsiktig.
Denne fordamperen kan brukes til å sette inn ulike molekyl kilder som C60C70boron subphthalocyanine chloride, Ga og Al Hg4,5,6,7,8. Sammenlignet med andre tynnfilm forberedelser teknikker, for eksempel, er spin casting9,10,11, termisk fordampning i høy vakuum mye renere og allsidig siden det ikke er noen løsemiddel kreves for avsetning. Videre forbedrer avgassing prosessen før deponering renheten av kilden, eliminere mulige urenheter.

Fysisk termisk avsettelse i en høy vakuum miljø er en ren og kontrollerbar metode for fabrikasjon romanen molekylær nanostrukturer på Grafén. Vi presenterer metoder for innskudd og passivt manipulere C60 molekyler på bølgete Grafén som fremme jakten på realisere programmer med 1 D C60/graphene hybrid strukturer. Teknikkene i denne utstilling er rettet mot høy vakuum systemer med matlaging områder støtter molekylær deponering samt termisk annealing prøvene. Vi fokuserer på C60 deponering ved lavt trykk med en hjemmelaget Knudsen cellen koblet til en skanning tunnelering mikroskopi (STM) system. Antallet molekyler avsatt reguleres ved å kontrollere temperaturen Knudsen cellen og deponering. Endimensjonal (1D) C60 kjeden strukturer med bredde på to til tre molekyler kan tilberedes via tuning av eksperimentelle forhold. Overflaten mobilitet av C60 molekyler øker med annealing temperatur slik at de kan flytte i periodiske potensialet i den bølgete Grafén. Bruker denne mekanismen, er det mulig å styre overgangen av 1 D C60 kjeden strukturer til en Sekskantet tett pakket kvasi - 1 D stripe struktur.

Etter fordampning, Grafén med nylig avsatt C60 er herdet på 150 ° C i 2 timer. Store STM bildet i figur 2a viser en karakteristisk kvasi - 1 D C60 kjeden struktur funnet etter denne første annealing prosessen.
