البنكرياس هو جهاز معقد يتألف من العديد من أنواع الخلايا المختلفة التي تعمل معا لتنظيم التوازن جلوكوز الدم والهضم. تتضمن هذه الأنواع خلية إفراز إنزيم الخلايا أسينار، نظام الأقنية أربوريزيد مسؤولة عن نقل الإنزيمات بخلايا الأمعاء، وإنتاج هرمون الغدد الصماء.
