the identification of sea lamprey pheromones using bioassay-guided fractionation

Bioassay-guidede fraksjoneres er en iterative metode som bruker resultatene av fysiologiske og behavioral bioassay for å veilede isolasjon og identifikasjon av en aktiv feromon sammensatte. Denne metoden har resultert i vellykket karakterisering av kjemiske signalene som fungerer som feromoner i et bredt spekter av dyrearter. Havet niøyer avhengige luktesans å oppdage feromoner som megle atferdsmessige eller fysiologiske svar. Vi bruker denne kunnskapen fisk biologi posit funksjoner av antatte feromoner og guide isolasjon og identifikasjon av aktive feromon komponenter. Kromatografi brukes til å trekke ut, konsentrere og skille forbindelser fra betinget vannet. Elektro-olfactogram (EOG) innspillinger er gjennomført for å fastslå hvilke fraksjoner framprovosere olfactory reaksjoner. To-valget labyrint atferdsmessige analyser brukes deretter til å finne ut om noen av illeluktende fraksjoner er også behaviorally aktive og indusere en preferanse. Denne metoden kan lett tilpasses for å karakterisere den kjemiske kommunikasjonen i et bredt spekter av taxa og belyse vannfortynnbare kjemiske økologi.
