Den mest udbredte blandt disse er propolins C, D, F og G5,7. De store biologiske effekter af taiwanske grønne propolis er korreleret med dens høje indhold af propolins8.
Koncentrationerne af bioaktive stoffer i propolis varierer meget afhængigt af sæson og geografiske placering som propolis er fremstillet. Europæiske propolis indeholder hovedsagelig flavonoid-aglycone og phenolforbindelser syrer-9. De store bioaktive stoffer i propolis fra Brasilien er prenylated p-coumaric syrer, såsom artepillin C10. En undersøgelse viste, at sæsonen er en kritisk faktor for bestemmelse af det samlede propolin indholdet i taiwanske grønne propolis11. Propolin indhold i taiwanske grønne propolis er højeste om sommeren (maj - juli) og lavest i vinteren11. Propolis antibakterielle ejendom har været almindeligt anset for at være en indikator for biologisk aktivitet. På samme måde, taiwanske grønne propolis blev rapporteret at have en antimikrobiel virkning mod gram-positive bakterier15. Derudover identificeret en undersøgelse også en antimikrobiel virkning af vekselvirkninger mellem propolins i taiwanske grønne propolis8.
Karakterisering af de bioaktive stoffer i propolis er vanskeligt, fordi dens kemiske sammensætning kan variere alt efter sit udspring af oprindelse. Det er derfor nødvendigt at fastsætte en realistisk og repeterbare metode til bestemmelse af kvaliteten af den taiwanske grønne propolis. Dog er der opstillet ingen standardprocedure for taiwanske grønne propolis ekstraktion og efterfølgende funktionalanalyse. Flere metoder, der skiftevis gælder organiske og uorganiske opløsningsmidler har været foreslået for propolis udvinding16,17,18,19,20. Da propolis er en lipofile blanding, har undersøgelser vist at økologisk udvinding er bedre end uorganiske udvinding8,18,19. Den samlede propolin koncentration i taiwanske grønne propolis og dens antibakterielle egenskaber er vigtige indikatorer for kvaliteten af taiwanske grønne propolis. Formålet med denne undersøgelse er således, at præsentere en protokol til brug af ætanol som opløsningsmiddel til at udtrække og karakterisere de antibakterielle egenskaber af taiwanske grønne propolis.

Her præsenterer vi protokollen for brug af ethanol som opløsningsmiddel til at udtrække og karakterisere taiwanske grønne propolis, som hæmmer antibakteriel aktivitet. Denne protokol er en pålidelig og repeterbar metode til bestemmelse af kvaliteten af taiwanske grønne propolis. Demonstrere procedure vil være Chun'Ting Chen og Yi'Hsuan Chien, ph.d.-studerende fra mit laboratorium.Til at begynde, vejer 100 gram taiwanske grønne propolis. Ved hjælp af en krydderikværn skal du male propolisen og sørge for, at stykkerne er malet til et fint pulver uden store partikler. Den antibakterielle påvirker af ethanol ekstrakter mod S aureus og E coli undersøges derefter.Den gennemsnitlige minimumshæmmende koncentration for S aureus syntes at være mellem 10 og 20 mikrogram pr. milliliter, og den gennemsnitlige bakteriekoncentration syntes at være 20 mikrogram pr. milliliter. Vandekstrakter havde imidlertid ingen antibakteriel påspæration mod S aureus. Ingen antibakterielle virkning er observeret for E coli ved brug af enten vand eller ethanol ekstrakter.En af de vigtigste eksperimentelle procedure er at undgå ensartethed taiwanske grønne propolis under slibning.
