为了分析该协议的影响, 对教育手册实施前后家庭睡眠监测中可接受数据质量的成功率和不合格率进行了回顾性审查。这些数据来源是成功的录音和参与者对有问题的研究人员的电话。参与者被要求到睡眠中心了解睡眠监测设备。在两个小时的访问中, 研究小组成员使用手册对每个参与者进行了有关设备的教育, 手册提供了设备使用的分步说明。在审查了办公室的手册并在设备的应用和使用的指导下, 与会者有机会以手册为指导, 独立练习应用家庭睡眠监测设备。访问期间向与会者提供了反馈, 他们除了根据需要重新应用设备外, 还有机会提问。随后, 参与者将设备带回家, 晚上将流动设备放在自己身上, 并鼓励他们在白天或晚上的任何时候打电话给研究小组成员, 寻求解决任何问题的帮助。
