另一方面, voit 实验室使用的是硫醇烯和硫醇-烯-丙烯酸酯聚合物的高度可调谐系统。这些材料是有利的, 因为暴露在体内条件后的软化程度可以很容易地通过聚合物设计进行调整。通过选择合适的聚合物组成和交联密度, 可以修正聚合物的玻璃过渡温度和杨氏模量 2、4、5、6、8。软化的潜在效果是聚合物在水环境中的塑化。通过使玻璃转变温度 (tg) 高于体温 (植入过程中的状态) 的聚合物, 但在浸入水或 pbs 后低于体温, 由此产生的聚合物硬化模量可以从玻璃 (硬) 时干燥时转移到橡胶 (软) 时植入 16。
然而, 由于塑化和tg 从干燥状态向潮湿状态的转移而导致的软化的精确和可靠的测量在过去是无法测量的。传统的动态力学分析是在空气或惰性气体中进行的, 不允许测量溶液中聚合物的热力学特性。在以前的研究中, 聚合物在 pbs 中浸泡了不同的时间。然后用肿胀的样品进行动态力学分析 (dma)6,7,8。但是, 由于该过程涉及温度坡道, 样品在测量过程中开始干燥, 不会产生具有代表性的数据。如果样本量变小, 则尤其如此。为了预测神经探针的软化, 有必要对5至50μm 薄膜进行测试, 这在传统的 dma 中是不可能的, 因为在测量过程中对样品进行了上述干燥。

然而, 环境 dma (图 1) 的使用允许在不同温度下测量水和 pbs 等溶液中的聚合物薄膜。这不仅可以测量聚合物在肥皂软化状态下的热力学特性, 还可以测量其软化动力学。即使是拉伸试验和膨胀测量是可能的, 在这台机器的浸入浴内。这使得对塑化引起的聚合物基板软化的精确研究能够在体内预测行为。
