Citometria de fluxo em tempo real fornecendo sensibilidade de célula única, é especialmente adequada para quantificar as funções do receptor multimodal de culturas vivas. A função de receptor P2X7 usando células progenitoras neurais adulto, foi avaliada através do influxo de cálcio, detectado pelo corante indicador de cálcio, formação do poro transmembrana pela absorção do brometo de etídio e fagocitose usando grânulos látex fluorescentes.
