リンパ節(LN)は、自然免疫応答と適応免疫応答を橋渡しする重要な機能を持つ全身に広く存在する卵形の器官である。LNは、それらに対する免疫応答をマウントするために異物粒子および癌細胞を同定するためにリンパを濾過する1.抗原提示細胞(APC)、T細胞およびB細胞は、抗原特異的抗体(体液性免疫)および細胞傷害性リンパ球(細胞性免疫)を生成するために一緒に働き、外来粒子および癌細胞2を排除する。したがって、リンパ系に存在する免疫細胞のダイナミクスを理解することは、ワクチン開発とがん免疫療法に重要な意味を持つであろう。
