Deretter bruker du masken for gassanalyse for pasienten, plasser sensorene for pulsoksysyreteret på pasientens pekefinger. I denne studien gjennomgikk både hjertesviktpasienter og sunne kontroller kardiopulmonal treningstesting som inkorporerer cerebralt oksygenmetningsovervåking av NIRS.De cerebrale vev oksygenmetningsverdiene anses å kort være betydelig lavere i hjertesviktgruppen enn i kontrollgruppen. I hjertesviktgruppen er hjernevevsgenmetningen i ro og på topp korrelert med Brain Natriuretic Peptide, det høyeste oksygenopptaket og oksygenopptaket effektivitetsskråningen. Spesielt bestemmes hjernevevsoksygenmetningen i ro av det delvise trykket i sluttkarbondioksidet i ro, hemoglobin og gjennomsnittlig arterielt trykk i ro.Prosedyren er enkel og praktisk. Pasienter med lav cerebral metningsindeks garanterer høy legehjelp. Integrering av NIRS i CPET bidrar til å avgrense involvering av cerebral hemoodynamisk undertrykkelse som forårsaker treningsintoleranse hos pasienter med hjertesvikt.Foruten sin prognostiske verdi, trenger den langsgående forskning for å bekrefte.
