뼈 형태 유전학 단백질 (BMP)는 성인 구조물의 초기 배아 발생 및 패터닝에 필수적입니다. BMP는 반응하는 세포에 있는 성장 그리고 세포 분화에 필요한 표적 유전자의 전사에 영향을 미치기 위하여 생성되고 분비됩니다. 데카펜타페지(Dpp)는 BMP4의 초파리 상동체로 날개1,2,3,4와같은 배아 및 성인 구조의 발달에 중요하다. 몇몇 단은 1) 날개가 쉽게 평가될 수 있는 일관된 venation 패턴을 가진 2개의 투명한 상피 시트로 구성되기 때문에 성인 플라이 날개를 패터닝에 있는 Dpp의 역할에 집중했습니다; 2) 날개 디스크는 또한 합리적으로 평평하고, 애벌레 의 외부에서 배양 될 수 있으며, 이미지화하고 패턴의 차이를 정량화하기 쉽습니다; 및 3) 날개 패턴 개발은 Dpp에 민감하여 통로내의 작은 섭동이 날개 venation 패턴에 영향을 미치게 한다.
