I motsats till mätning under fri simning, som presenterar inneboende utmaningar och begränsningar, kan bestämning av viktiga parametrar för cardiorespiratory funktion för simmare göras med hjälp av en mer genomförbar och lättare att administrera uppbundna-simning snabbt ökas protokoll med gasutbyte och ventilatory datainsamling.
