根治的腎奇摘術は、上部道尿道癌(UTUC)1を治療するための標準的な手順である。伝統的な開かれた手術は、多量の外傷と多くの合併症2に関連する下腹部の2つの大きな切開を必要とします。泌尿器科における低侵襲技術の急速な発達に伴い、腹腔鏡手術は多くの研究で徐々に応用されてきた。腹腔鏡手術は、腫瘍を治療する上で開かれた手術と同一であるため、従来の外科的方法は徐々に腹腔鏡手術3に置き換えられている。
腹腔鏡手術では、末端尿管の治療は、焦点の領域であり、手術の既知の困難であった。現在、腹腔鏡下腎摘出術で尿管末端を治療するための異なる選択肢が存在する。しかし、手術の難易度や外傷量の減少は4、5では不可能であった。
