血管は、人体の様々な臓器組織に栄養素を提供し、物質を交換することができます。同時に、多くのサイトカイン、ホルモン、薬物および細胞はまた、特定の場所への血管輸送を介して機能する。肝臓組織の血管変化を観察することは、肝臓組織の血流の分布および物質の輸送を理解するのに役立ち、また、ある血管関連疾患の解析に役立つ1,2。
マウスの肝臓の血管を観察する方法はたくさんあります。中でも、光学顕微鏡検査は、不透明血管組織3を観察する上で多くの制限を有する。多光子顕微鏡は、非侵襲的な高分解能4を有する生きた肝臓の血管を画像化するために使用することができる。血管の3次元画像が得られるだけでなく、この技術は、その中の生物学的効果を観察するために組織を整理するのにも役立ちます。さらに、コンピュータ断層撮影や磁気共鳴画像5のように、組織全体をマイクロ血管ではなく画像化することができる。
