最近の研究では、かなりの免疫細胞、特にB細胞、細胞の,局在1、2、3、4、52,3に依存1するフェノティピックおよび機能的異質性が実証されている。4,5B-1a細胞は、保護IgM抗体を産生する異種能力を有するそのような集団の1つである。骨髄B-1a細胞は、IgMを構成的に分泌し、血漿IgM力価6に大きく寄与する一方、腹膜B-1a細胞は恒常性で低レベルのIgM分泌を有し、代わりに自然なToll-like受容体(TLR)またはサイトカイン媒介シグナル伝達を介して活性化7,8,9,することができる。B-1a細胞IgM抗体は、病原体、アポトーシス細胞、および酸化LDLに存在する酸化特異的エピトープ(OSE)を認識し、OSEにIgM結合すると、アテローム性動脈硬化症などの疾患における炎症性下流シグナル伝達を防ぐことができる。したがって、骨髄のような部位への腹膜B-1a細胞遊泳を介してIgM産生を増加させる戦略は治療的に有用であり得る。しかし、オフターゲット効果が免疫機能や健康に悪影響を及ぼす可能性があるため、このような戦略を標的とし、細胞型特異的であることが重要です。
