変形性関節症(OA)は、関節1に関連するすべての組織の様々な病理を含む衰弱および痛みを伴う疾患である。世界人口の約3.8%に影響を及ぼす2,OAは最も一般的な筋骨格系疾患の1つであり、2020年までに世界の第4位の障害原因となる。外傷後OAは関節損傷後に発生し、膝4、5などの影響を受けやすい関節において、OAの少なくとも12%、OAの最大25%を占める。,5さらに、関節損傷はOAの生涯リスクを5倍以上6倍に増加させる。明らかに同様の不安定性を持つすべての傷害がOAの開発に進むわけではないので、長期的なOAリスクを引き起す要因を定義することは依然として困難です。OAに素因がある傷害特異的な病理、原因、およびメカニズムを調査し、より良く定義するために、心的外傷後OAを予防および/または治療するための効果的な治療法を開発することが1重要である。
